After two weeks, it has attracted many teachers and students to explore. In this urban forest education center, children wander through different exhibition areas, experiencing first-hand the charm of Chinese characters and traditional Chinese medicine: searching for interesting ancient characters in the “Oracle Bone Script and Bamboo Slips Corridor”; using their bodies to gesture radicals on the “Radical Explanation Wall” to understand how the character “Medicine” brings joy; listening to the medical dialogue between the Yellow Emperor and Qi Bo in the “Idiom Story Mini-Theater”; and taking photos with giant medicine gourd riddles and a healing medicine pot, learning about the mysteries of plant, animal, and mineral medicines. The exhibition also features a stamp collection activity, allowing everyone to create their own “Tortoise shell cards”; and a sachet workshop where children can make their own calming sachets. Active participants can also earn tokens to try their luck at the Traditional Chinese Medicine plushie claw machine! In addition, the “Chinese Characters Herbal Art Exhibition” showcases outstanding student creations themed around Chinese medicinal herbs, presenting their unique insights into characters, medicine, and life. On weekends, there will also be an educational theater performance of “Little Kapok & Uncle Yung” and a sachet workshop, deepening understanding of Chinese herbs through storytelling and hands-on activities. Although the exhibition is short, it uses diverse and engaging methods to allow everyone to discover the stories of Traditional Chinese Medicine behind Chinese characters through games, and to rediscover this long-standing cultural treasure. Chinese Characters as a Gateway to TCM Health Insights News 上一篇 Back

Emotions and Health TCM – Students Mental Health Care/
A Joyful and Enriching Trip! Link to Project Website After learning about and experiencing classroom and outreach activities with teachers and parents, we came to the focus of this program, which is to let students recognize and pay attention to their own emotions. In the classroom, we learned about the seven emotions of human beings. The Chinese Medicine Practitioner helped the students understand how their moods and emotions stimulate the organs and lead to various diseases. When encountering various life pressures, suggest some ways to relieve students' emotions. At the same time, the students walked with us out of the classroom for a two-day and one-night trip to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Town. We experience learning from the outside to the inside. Traveling is a pleasant experience for both body and mind. Students learned about the history of Chinese medicine from the relief gallery of Guinness records; walked along the Baicao Garden, learned about herbs that can regulate health, and picked flowers and plants as materials for herbal rubbings; they practiced the Wuqinxi in the Twenty-Four Solar Terms Cultural Park to maintain physical and mental health. In fact, soups and meals can also be used in conjunction with the 24 solar terms to regulate the body. In the evening, the students learn and exchange some health tips with the Chinese medicine practitioner. In the workshop, students used mugwort to make incense sticks. The unique aroma of mugwort can repel insects and soothe the nerves. They also used fresh mugwort leaves to make handmade soap. The students learned about the diverse uses of Chinese herbal medicine. Herbal plant rubbing is a workshop that provides both visual enjoyment and emotional release, turning the restlessness or depression in your heart into beautiful flower patterns. It was only two days and one night, but we returned home with very fulfilled both physically and mentally.

To summarize the Project based on the exhibition. Link to Project Website “Away from Negative Emotions, Live a Healthy Life with the Seven Emotions — An Exhibition on Emotional Well-being” officially opened last Thursday at the tranquil Jao Tsung-I Cultural Center, serving as a culmination of the “Emotions and Health Traditional Chinese Medicine-Students Mental Health Care” project. Positive Emotions: Embracing Every Day with Emotions Students participating in the project visited the exhibition hall, diligently noting their immediate feelings whether joyful or sorrowful. The exhibition is divided into five sections, with the instructors’ explanations, participants learned about the exhibition content and reviewed previously learned information. Looking at time, place, and people, the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture” Zone, infused with emotions and life, allows students to learn and experience balance on a seesaw. The “Partner Schools” zone brings together home, school, and teaching classrooms and outreach, showcasing students’ learning experiences and achievements. Students carefully examine their past footprints and read and feel the sharing of participating children. The “Lifestyle” zone provides tips on balanced diets, appropriate exercise, and regular routines, helping us learn to adjust our lives and create balanced health. In the “Literature and Art” zone, we cultivate our minds and bodies, engaging with and responding to the seven emotions through our five senses. We learn that the peace of mind lies in “moderation,” without bias; and that the balance of emotions lies in “harmony,” with moderation and restraint. We relearn and understand the story of “mistaking a snake for a cup’s reflection,” gaining a different perspective on things. Through poetry, we learn how the ancients faced their troubles; and with gentle music, we watch short films depicting the changing seasons, finding a moment of tranquility. In the “Herbal” zone, which combines health maintenance and treatment, we recognize symptoms and learn about herbs. Students made their own soothing and calming sachets. Then, through calligraphy practice, they quietly and attentively wrote down words or drew a herbal painting, discovering the priceless value of letting go of distractions. Students actively participated in every game and every detail, enjoying themselves immensely and leaving with a wealth of knowledge. They radiated joy and excitement, storing the learned knowledge in their hearts, patiently awaiting these small seeds to sprout and grow strong in the future. The exhibition “Away from Negative Emotions, Live a Healthy Life with Seven Emotions – Emotional Well-being Exhibition” will be on display at Hall F of the Jao Tsung-I Cultural Center until November 18th.
